In this article, we will discuss about the verbs and its types with examples with the explanation English and Hindi both are present it in this article. There are two types of verbs which is Main Verb / Principal Verb and Helping Verb / Auxiliary Verb and also with the explanation of Verbs Transitive and Intransitive.

Verb

That word which refers to the doing or, happening of an action or, event is called the Verb ( verbs in English )

Or

( वह शब्द जिससे कुछ करने या होने का बोध होता है उसे Verb कहते हैं। ), ( verbs in Hindi )

Types of verb

( Verb (क्रिया) के मुख्यः दो प्रकार होते हैं ) –

  1. Main Verb / Principal Verb (मुख्य क्रिया)
  2. Helping Verb / Auxiliary Verb (सहायक क्रिया)

Main Verb (मुख्य क्रिया) –

That verb which expresses the central meaning of sentence is called the Main Verb.

Or

( वह क्रिया जो वाक्य में मुख्य अर्थ को व्यक्त करता है, उसे Main Verb कहते हैं। )

Examples

 eat (खाना), go (जाना), come (आना), drink (पीना), die (मरना), live (रहना), play (खेलना) e.t.c.

Helping Verb (सहायक क्रिया) –

That verb which is helpful to express the complete meaning of the main verb is called the Helping Verb.

Or

( वह क्रिया जो मुख्य क्रिया के अर्थ को स्पष्ट करने में सहायक होता है, उसे Helping Verb कहते हैं। )

Examples

 is, am, are, was, were, has, have, had, do, does, did, can, could, would, may, might, must, dare, need, used to, ought to.

जैसे –

  1. वह स्कूल जा रहा हैं। – He is going to school.
  • वह (He) – subject
  • स्कूल (school) – object
  • जाना (go) – main verb
  • हैं (is) – helping verb

   2.  राम आम नहीं खाता हैं। – Ram do not eat a mango.

  • राम (Ram) – subject
  • आम (mango) – object
  • खाता (eat) – main verb
  •  (do) – helping verb

अब हम Main Verb के बारे में विस्तार से जानते हैं।

Types of main verb ( verbs transitive and intransitive )

जैसे की Verb (क्रिया) के दो प्रकार main verb और helping verb होते हैं उसी तरह Main Verb (सहायक क्रिया) के भी दो प्रकार होते है –

  1. Transitive Verb (सकर्मक क्रिया)
  2. Intransitive Verb (अकर्मक क्रिया)

Transitive Verb ( verbs transitive and intransitive )

Transitive Verb That main verb which takes one or, more objects is called the Transitive Verb.

or

( वह मुख्य क्रिया जो अपने अर्थ को पूरा करने के लिए एक या एक से अधिक object लेती है, उसे Transitive Verb कहते हैं। )

जैसे –

1. वह दुकान चलाता हैं। – He runs the shop.

  • वह (He) – subject
  • दुकान (shop) – object
  • चलाता – transitive verb (Main Verb)
  • हैं – helping verb

2. मैं आपलोगों को एक कलम देता हूँ। – I give you a pen.

  • मैं (I) – subject
  • आपलोगों को – object
  • कलम – object
  • देता – transitive verb (Main Verb)
  • हूँ – helping verb

Intransitive Verb ( verbs transitive and intransitive ) 

Intransitive Verb That main verb which does not have an object is called the Intransitive Verb.

or

(वह मुख्य क्रिया जो अपने अर्थ को पूरा करने के लिए object नहीं लेती है, उसे Intransitive Verb कहते हैं। )

जैसे –

1. मैं हँसता हूँ। – I laugh.

  • मैं (I) – subject
  • हँसना (laugh) – intransitive verb (Main Verb)
  • हूँ – helping verb

2. तुम जाते हो। – You go.

  • तुम (you) – subject
  • जाना (go) – intransitive verb (Main Verb)
  • हो – helping verb
