The Solar System Facts

Hello Everyone ,

Today we are going to discuss our solar system and Its interesting and amazing facts which normally we don’t know. So this blog is going to be very interesting and knowledgeable for all of us.

So Let’s start the journey of our SOLAR SYSTEM.

Firstly we discuss what is our solar system. when we are children, we have heard lots of moon stories and alien stories from our parents and school teacher. But now we will find out what is actually real about our solar system.

The sun, planets, satellites, asteroids and meteoroids form the solar system.

Our solar system consists of our star, the Sun, and everything bound to it by gravity — the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, dwarf planets such as Pluto, dozens of moons and millions of asteroids, comets and meteoroids.

Let’ Find Out Interesting Fact About Our One and Only Sun

SUN (Our Solar System) # The Solar System Facts

The sun is made of extremely hot gases, and it provides heat and light to the rest of the solar system. It is about 150 million kilometres away from the earth.

Sun is the source of energy of our solar system

Sun Facts

  • The Sun is the largest object within our solar system, comprising 99.8% of the system’s mass.
  • The Sun is located at the center of our solar system, and Earth orbits 93 million miles away from it.
  • Though massive, the Sun still isn’t as large as other types of stars. It’s classified as a yellow dwarf star.
  • The Sun’s magnetic field spreads throughout the solar system via the solar wind.
  • The Sun—the heart of our solar system—is a yellow dwarf star, a hot ball of glowing gases

What is a Moon?

Moons – also known as natural satellites – orbit planets and asteroids in our solar system. Earth has one moon, and there are more than 200 moons in our solar system. Most of the major planets – all except Mercury and Venus – have moons. Pluto and some other dwarf planets, as well as many asteroids, also have small moons. Saturn and Jupiter have the most moons, with dozens orbiting each of the two giant planets.

Asteroids, Comets & Meteors

Don’t let the name fool you. Our solar system’s small bodies—asteroids, comets and meteors—pack big surprises. Asteroids and comets—and the meteors that sometimes come from them—are leftovers from the formation of our solar system 4.6 billion years ago. While the planets and moons have changed over the millennia, many of these small chunks of ice, rock and metal have not. They are a lot like a fossil record of planetary evolution.

There are currently 1,090,761 known asteroids and 3,729 known comets.

Small Bodies by Type

The Solar System Facts

Asteroids

Asteroids, sometimes called minor planets, are rocky, airless remnants left over from the early formation of our solar system about 4.6 billion years ago.

The current known asteroid count is: 1,090,761.

Most of this ancient space rubble can be found orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter within the main asteroid belt. Let’s find out some interesting fact, Asteroids range in size from Vesta — the largest at about 329 miles (530 kilometers) in diameter — to bodies that are less than 33 feet (10 meters) across. The total mass of all the asteroids combined is less than that of Earth’s Moon.

The Solar System Facts

Comets

Comets are frozen leftovers from the formation of the solar system composed of dust, rock, and ices. They range from a few miles to tens of miles wide, but as they orbit closer to the sun, they heat up and spew gases and dust into a glowing head that can be larger than a planet. This material forms a tail that stretches millions of miles.

The Solar System Facts

Meteors & Meteorites

What’s the difference between a meteor, meteoroid, and meteorite?

They’re all related to the flashes of light called “shooting stars” sometimes seen streaking across the sky. But we call the same object by different names, depending on where it is.

Meteoroids are objects in space that range in size from dust grains to small asteroids. Think of them as “space rocks.”

As most of us know that When meteoroids enter Earth’s atmosphere (or that of another planet, like Mars) at high speed and burn up, the fireballs or “shooting stars” are called meteors.

Do you know that When a meteoroid survives a trip through the atmosphere and hits the ground, it’s called a meteorite.
