Hydrogen peroxide

Its formula is H2O2 and is important chemical used in population control treatment of domestic and industrial effulents .

Preparation :

The commonly used methods are :

  1. From barium peroxide :This is laboratory preparation.

(By action of dilute Sulphuric acid : Athin paste of Barium peroxide is made in ice cold water .Then add it  slowly to ice cold sulphuric acid .The white precipitate  of Barium sulphte is removed by filteration leaving behind the dilute solution of Hydrogen peroxide.
